Ezra Miller Seeking Treatment for “Complex Mental Health Issues”

In a statement, ‘The Flash’ star says, “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior.” 

So, another celebrity is seeking mental health treatment for “complex mental health issues”.  Again, I say bravo!  Miller’s situation again points to society’s inevitable outcome that mental health care is health care and needs to be approached in a preventative fashion, not attempting to address what clearly escalated into crisis level behaviors.

At some point the health care communities, lawmakers, and insurers are going to have to face the music that, until we get a step ahead of mental health care, we will continue to pay unnecessary and an extraordinarily high price for our lack of will.  School shootings, police misconduct, social divisiveness, many of our most attention-getting social issues beg the question, “What different outcomes would we be getting if all involved were in a state of positive mental health?”
